A section through the cerebral hemispheres (frontal lobe area), hypothalamus and medulla oblongata.

Observe:
1. The lamina terminalis and preoptic area and recess of the third ventricle.
2. The rostral part of the hypothalamus at the level of the optic chiasma.
3. The neurohypophysis flanked on each side by the tuberal part of the adenohypophysis.
4. The relation of cranial nerves III, IV, V, VII, VIII, IX, X and XI.
5. Parts of the internal ear.
